The easiest way I could think of to get the length of the hair was to wrap the yarn around chairs that were 54″ apart until the thickness seemed right. Then I estimated needing an extra 14 or so inches to the total length since the braid overall will end up shorter. What you need (I got my supplies at Joann’s, but below are links if you prefer an Amazon situation):īased on the fact that this costume will be for a 5-year-old, I estimated I would need 40 or so inches of finished length after the yarn was braided. Sorry I didn’t move the bowl of potatoes, okay? I’m SORRY. I couldn’t find any decent instructions online, so I just made up my own way of doing it.ĭisclaimer: these photos are lame because there was a tiny time bomb (aka my son) sleeping, and at this point his naps can be 20 minutes or 2 hours so I was just trying to go as quickly as possible. The cutest, right? I’ll have to wait to show finished costume photos since I’m not done yet, but I do have a very easy tutorial for making Rapunzel hair. One of the costumes I’m making is Rapunzel. (See some previous costumes I’ve made here and here!) Halloween isn’t exactly around the corner, but I’m making a few costumes this year and knew I needed to get a jump start on them so I don’t end up in a time crunch as October 31st approaches.
